Four tiers. One commitment.
Every CRIOS token carries a tier badge based on the integrity of its underlying source. Tier 0 is modeled and cannot be retired; retirement requires at least Tier 1 metered data.
Tier 0 — Modeled — not retirable
Modeled. Estimated from installed capacity and irradiation data while metering is being proven. Not retirable.
Tier 1 — Metered
Metered. Generation data captured from the plant via Karbera, with an official grid displacement factor applied.
Tier 2 — Programme-issued
Programme-issued. Issued under an external programme's methodology with third-party verification.
Tier 3 — Legacy
Legacy. Pre-existing credits ported into CRIOS with provenance preserved.
What CRIOS will never do.
Tier 0 (modeled) tokens are estimates, not measurements. They are never eligible for retirement.
Renewable, efficiency, mobility, forestry, and capture tokens are never pooled into a single 'carbon' instrument.
Every category requires a published, versioned methodology before any token is minted.
Illustrative and preview data is always labelled as such. Nothing on testnet is presented as settled.
Published. Versioned. Public.

Independent verification.
CRIOS intends to engage independent auditors to verify methodology adherence, mint integrity, and retirement accuracy as the pilot matures. Audit firms will be announced ahead of the first annual report.
